ONDEA: launching a state agency to 30,000 live attendees

October 03, 2026

The Ondo State Entrepreneurship Agency (ONDEA) launched in 2020 to give people in the state new skills. We were asked to set up and run everything on the digital side, from branding to how the agency collected its data. The two events we managed for it drew more than 30,000 live attendees.

This case study sets out the brief, what we did and the results.

30,000+live attendees across the 2 events we managed
5M+impressions from the campaigns
5,000+registrations on the empowerment portal
1,000+people certified through the digital training

The starting point

ONDEA grew out of an event. The eighth Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs event, which we managed in Ondo State, ran for 24 hours with about 10,000 attendees. It was the first of its kind in the state. Our A.Y.E. case study covers that work.

When the agency was launched, we were asked to set up and manage everything from branding to internal processes: communication, data collation and website management.

What we did

  1. Made the launch video. The Governor fronted it, with a script written for the moment.
  2. Ran monthly digital training for more than 100 business owners in Ondo State. People who completed it were certified.
  3. Managed two events digitally. For each one we handled the online campaign, registration, live updates, trend management, live streaming, media set-up and the campaign afterwards.
  4. Kept registration in one place. People signed up through an empowerment portal, so the agency had one record of who had registered.

The results

  • More than 30,000 live attendees across the two events we managed.
  • More than 5 million impressions from the campaigns we ran.
  • More than 5,000 registrations on the empowerment portal.
  • More than 1,000 people certified through the digital training, which ran each month for more than 100 business owners.

These figures come from our project records.

What a sales team can take from it

  • Collect the data properly from day one. ONDEA started with one place for registrations. Most teams start with whatever is to hand and tidy up later, which costs more.
  • An event is the start of the list. Registration, live updates and the campaign afterwards were planned as one piece of work. Our guide to following up event leads in 48 hours covers the part most teams skip.
  • Decide how many times you will follow up. A registration is an expression of interest. What happens next needs a plan. See how many follow-ups to send.
